| The Glaucoma Centre at Raghudeep Eye Clinic acquires Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT)
The glaucoma centre is proud to add one more novel glaucoma treatment modality to its armamentarium – the Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT).
It is a non-invasive technology that causes reduction of intraocular pressure in glaucoma patients without the need for medications and / or surgery. This is a simple, office based procedure which can eliminate or reduce the need for glaucoma medications, which often have common side effects. By reducing the number of glaucoma medications, the SLT greatly improves patients’ quality of life and reduces ocular surface problems.
Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty is clinically proven to treat glaucoma by safely and effectively reducing intraocular pressure in a single, office procedure. Unlike the older laser trabeculoplasties, the SLT does not cause any permanent damage to the patient’s trabecular meshwork, and therefore, is more effective and safer.
What is SLT ?
- Soft laser, cleans up outflow facility in the eye
- No thermal damage
- No cutting or coagulation in the eye
Advantages of SLT Laser Therapy
- Proven to reduce IOP
- No systemic side effects
- Effective as primary, adjunct or repeat therapy
- Can be repeated multiple times
- Safe, office-based procedure
- Protects trabecular meshwork
- Improves patient compliance
